Who you are is okay, you always have been. –Unknown

How many times do we look at someone else and think they have it all? They may have more beauty than us or be more handsome than the next guy. Or they may seemingly have everything available in the physical world; the best house, the finest automobiles; boats; “perfect” children; etc.

But do we know that those things equate to happiness? I’ve had things before that I thought would make me happy only to find out that while I enjoyed those things; I wasn’t truly happy.

True happiness comes from within. It comes from knowing who you are and what you want out of life. It happens when we live honest lives and are true to ourselves.

If getting those “things” means additional stress because we can’t truly afford them, what’s gained in that? Ulcers, alcoholism, drug addiction, abusive relationships, or bankruptcy, to name a few.

Think about who you are and what you really want from life. Begin to work from the inside out. When happiness on the inside is there, the outsides will follow and they will matter less too.

It’s not what is on the outside that matters. Happiness is on the inside.

I have learned that happiness is often a choice. Like joy and peace, it can be present even in the midst of the storms of life. I have also learned that what I choose to think about is what determines the way I feel. I often rely on Phil 4:4-10 to remind me of what I need to think about. It works everytime.

    Barb,
I needed this so much this morning… I am so glad that you are blogging. Yoru quotes are beautiful, and they fill my sore heart right now. I am taking them in so hungrily, and I can feel their healing power.
Thank you, and may your recovery grow and grow and grow and bloom…
    Lovingly,
    Anne
